-Assessment and diagnosis: Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, gathering medical, psychiatric, and social histories, and formulating diagnoses.
-Treatment planning and management: Developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans for conditions such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, substance use disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, and more. This includes medication management (prescribing, adjusting dosages, monitoring for efficacy and side effects) and psychotherapy.
-Psychopharmacology expertise: Selecting appropriate medications, managing polypharmacy, monitoring interactions and adverse effects, and providing patient education on medications and adherence.
-Psychotherapy: Providing talk therapies within their scope of practice, often including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), supportive therapy, and other modalities, or coordinating with therapists when needed.
