Perform roles of charge nurse, and advanced RN 111. Utilize effective skills to ensure the provision of prompt, competent, and responsive mental health care to patients admitted to the inpatient psychiatric facility. Act as a professional role model for other members of the nursing team and assist team members in their professional development. Provide the first level of feedback for nurses and mental health technicians under supervision of charge nurse, help oversee admissions and discharge planning, assist with more typical nursing tasks, such as checking on patients and administering medicine. Convey critical patient updates to and collaborate with physicians to provide timely often urgent patient care. Regularly communicate status of unit operations with nurse manager. Regarding direct patient care: develop therapeutic interpersonal relationships with psychiatric patients. Perform diagnostic patient evaluations, initiation and continuation of appropriate therapies (pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic) as well as monitoring and modifying pharmacotherapies in accordance with empirically supported recommended best practices. Complete and maintain documentation of clinical services and prescribe medications using HIPAA compliant electronic medical record and electronic prescribing systems. Facilitate and coordinate with other clinicians mental health treatment services. Develop, review, and implement patient treatment plans and when appropriate, provide referrals to other clinicians outside the practice.
